Buddy Fruits - 100% Fruit (and nothing else.) Really???

I have seen the Buddy Fruit products at various stores. They state they are "100% Fruit and nothing else." I had looked at the fruit squeezes and saw they were labeled "no gluten" so I decided to try the fruit bites for Gracie. Honestly - I didn't look that closely at the ingredients because it stated 100% fruit (nothing else) - that was my fault and I own it.

Got home and handed them to Gracie - she opened them and started to eat one when she checked the back of the package where it states "May contain wheat starch." WHEAT STARCH?? How did that get in a 100% fruit (nothing else) fruit snack??

Their web site even states "No Gluten" on their product page. I sent them an email asking them to explain themselves - I am interested to see their response. I find their advertising to be confusing and/or deceiving and that really troubles me. It could be the difference between a nice snack for some and food poisoning to others.

What a crock! If the product is labeled as gluten free, what the heck is wheat starch doing in it?????

Please keep us updated on this. I'll be very interested to see what they have to say.

"Thanks for your email. We understand perfectly well your concerns about the wheat and I'm going to explain to you the reason why we are obliged to write this sentence: Just for you to understand, our product are 100% Fruit, but they are manufactured in a huge factory where we also produce product who contain wheat...so we can't control and regulate the wind and the air in the factory may contain wheat...but in any case our product contain wheat...There is 1 chance on 10 Millions that our product contain wheat but because of what I just explained, it might have traces and for very very allergic people it could be a problem...The law is like this: You have to mention it when a product is manufactured in a plant who also produce cookies or other.

Be 100% sure our Bites are 100% Fruit and nothing else.

Hope it's clear for you"

So - it appears instead of the standard "produced in a facility that also processes wheat" comment they went their own way thus confusing this consumer.
